100 Downloads: Thank You for Being Part of FlowDesk's Journey

Today, I noticed a number that may seem small compared to many other software projects, but it means a lot to me. FlowDesk has reached 100 downloads. To some people, 100 downloads may not sound impressive. There are countless applications with thousands or even millions of users around the world. However, behind every single download is a real person who took a moment to visit the FlowDesk website, click the download button, and give this project a chance. That means more to me than the number itself.

How FlowDesk Started

FlowDesk didn't begin as a business idea or a side project created to follow trends. It started with a simple question I kept asking myself while dreaming about building my own game development team one day:

"What kind of workspace would I want to use every single day?"

I explored many project management tools, learned a lot from them, and admired the incredible work behind each product. At the same time, I realized that my own workflow, priorities, and expectations were a little different. Instead of waiting for the perfect tool to exist, I decided to build it myself. That decision became FlowDesk.

More Than Features

From the beginning, my goal has never been to create software with the longest list of features. My goal has always been to build a workspace that feels comfortable, intuitive, and enjoyable to use. Every feature, every interface update, and every design decision is made with one simple question in mind:

Does this genuinely make someone's work easier?

If the answer is no, then it probably doesn't belong in FlowDesk. I believe a great product is not defined by how many features it has, but by how well those features solve real problems.

Built Around Freedom

One principle has guided FlowDesk since the very first version: Your data belongs to you. That's why FlowDesk follows a local-first approach. Users can work offline, keep their data on their own devices, and choose how they want to collaborate as their teams grow.

As FlowDesk continues to evolve, the vision remains the same. A solo developer can start with a Private Workspace, expand into a Local Workspace when collaborating with teammates, and eventually move to an Online Workspace without starting over. The software should grow with its users—not force users to adapt to the software.

Why Open Source?

FlowDesk is open source because I believe great software is rarely built by one person alone. Open source creates opportunities for people to learn, contribute, report issues, suggest improvements, and grow together as a community.

Even if someone decides to fork FlowDesk in the future, I don't see that as a loss. A product is defined by much more than its source code. It is built through trust, consistency, community, and the experience it provides every day.

Rather than rushing to release everything at once, I want to keep building FlowDesk carefully—making every release a little better than the last.
